Walk down the cleaning aisle of any grocery store and you'll find the same thing on every shelf: bright green scouring pads, wrapped in more plastic, made of plastic, destined to shed microplastic fibers into your sink for months before landing in a landfill where they'll sit for centuries. We got tired of that math. So we built something different.
It starts with a gourd, not a barrel of oil
Our loofah scrub sponges aren't a synthetic approximation of a natural material — they're the real thing. Loofah is a fibrous gourd, grown and harvested much like a vegetable, then cleaned and shaped into a scrubber that's naturally textured enough to break down grease and grime without a single strand of plastic mesh. When it's done its job, it composts. No microplastics, no forever-chemicals, no guilt.
What USDA Biopreferred certification actually means
We didn't want to just say our products are natural — we wanted a third party to verify it. That's why our loofah and cellulose scrub sponges carry the USDA Biopreferred certification, a federal program that verifies a product's biobased content through lab testing, not marketing copy. It's the same standard used to vet biobased products purchased by U.S. government agencies. In plain terms: when we say plastic-free, we mean it's been checked.
From one loofah to a full kitchen lineup
What started as a single natural scrub sponge has grown into a full plastic-free kitchen lineup: our Natural XL Loofah Scrub Sponges for heavy-duty pots and pans, Natural Cellulose Scrub Sponges for everyday dishes, and Eco Kitchen Sponge Bundles that pair the two so you've always got the right tool without reaching for a plastic pad out of habit. Every product is designed to be used, composted, and replaced — not thrown in a landfill to outlive us all.
Why we're telling you this now
If you've bought from us before, thank you — you're part of the reason we've been able to keep growing this lineup and keep it plastic-free. We've also just moved to a new home online, and we'd love to keep you posted on new products, restocks, and offers as we settle in.
(and yes, there's a 10% welcome-back discount in it for you)
