GROWN, NOT MANUFACTURED
It starts as a seed. Not a supply chain.
Most kitchen sponges are made in a factory, out of plastic, and end up in a landfill for the next 500 years. Ours starts on a vine.
From vine to your sink
Our loofah gourds are grown on farms, then harvested, dried, and stripped down to their natural fiber skeleton — the same plant fiber people have used to scrub with for centuries, long before plastic existed.
No synthetic foam. No petroleum. No factory line. Just a plant, doing what it already does.
Why we started this
The idea behind Scrub & Throw started with a simple frustration: the average kitchen sponge is designed to outlive everyone in the house — synthetic, plastic-cored, and headed for a landfill it'll sit in for centuries. It began as a search for what nature already figured out — a plant that grows into its own scrubbing texture, needs nothing added, and goes right back into the soil when it's done. Today, we carry that same rule forward: if it can't compost, it doesn't belong in your kitchen.
From your sink back to the earth
When a Scrub & Throw sponge wears out, it doesn't go in the trash — it goes in the compost. In as little as 30 days, it breaks back down into the earth it came from. No microplastics left behind, no landfill footprint added.

The proof, not just the promise
Every claim below is independently verified — not marketing copy.
USDA Certified Biobased — Independently lab-verified: 98% biobased content in the loofah, 100% in the packaging. This is a federal certification, issued through the USDA BioPreferred Program, not a claim we made up ourselves.
Plastic-Free — No synthetic microplastics, ever. Just plant-based loofah fiber and recyclable paper packaging.
Compostable — Breaks down in as little as 30 days in home or industrial compost, instead of sitting in a landfill for centuries like a plastic scrubber would.
Biodegradable — Fiber, packaging, everything breaks down naturally over time. No microplastics, no lasting waste.
100% Plant-Based — No synthetic ingredients, no fillers, no plastic binding agents. Just the plant.
