Most standard sponges are polyurethane foam with a synthetic scouring layer, which means plastic waste and microplastics with every use. Loofah is the dried inner fiber of the luffa gourd: plant material with nothing to separate before it goes in the compost. Our loofah sponges carry the USDA Certified Biobased label, which requires independent lab testing rather than self-reported claims.
